Session 3: How well do you know the Rules?

WORRIED YOU DON'T KNOW THE RULES WELL ENOUGH TO UMPIRE???

Here's some ways to build your confidence and get you up to date.

1.   FIH Rules of Hockey App:  Interactive & convenient.  At the of the touch of a button, you can be sure to have the latest rules of Outdoor Hockey on-the-go. Covering the must-know for both players and umpires including a Quiz feature and Videos. Link: FIH Rules app.pdf

2. Federation of International Hockey: The Official FIH Rule Book

3. A simple guide:  Umpiring Signals.pdf

4.  Walk & Talk Turf Tours:  Take a field tour:  learn about equipment, lines & terminology.  What's a pregame stick check?  Does the goal net sit behind, in front or on top of the goal line?

5.  Goal Keeper Rules:  what are their rights?

6. Briz Hockey:  "Rulz Gurus" & many more websites that short video clips (@4-5mins)  that explain each rule and show you examples - do a few Google searches - there is heaps of info out there in Google Land.

7.  A good old fashioned rules test.
